Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the entry and supplies its results. Dallas County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Messages are not shared outside the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics records may capture technical details about a visit.
- Device IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring website, when supplied
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies and analytics services help measure site traffic, popular pages, performance, and points where visits end. A browser can reject cookies, though some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, secure, and improve the website
- Route a search request to the selected partner
- Measure which pages serve visitors well
- Diagnose errors and performance problems
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Dallas County Criminal History does not maintain, combine, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes reference material about access through Dallas County clerks, the Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not turned into consumer reports, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power search tools that may appear on the website. Information entered in those tools is governed by the provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Review that provider's terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Dallas County offices, Texas agencies, courts, registries, or outside services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to the services needed to run the website.
- Search providers processing a visitor's chosen query
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving website ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security controls protect collected data. No internet system can be guaranteed free from every breach, so absolute security is not promised.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when properly brought to the operator's attention.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with residence and applicable law. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs access to Texas government information, while Government Code Chapter 411 controls dissemination of criminal-history information. Those public-record laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable privacy and consumer law, a visitor may:
- Ask what personal information the site keeps about that visitor
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Seek deletion where the law permits
- Object to or opt out of processing where a legal right applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as website practices or legal duties change. A revised policy takes effect when posted here with its new date.
